BEHIND THE MUSIC OF REGAN BATTEN
Regan Batten is a graduate of Utah Valley University with a Bachelor’s degree in Commercial Music, with an emphasis in voice, as well as a Music Technology Certificate.
Regan has been writing music since she was 7 or 8 years old, starting with songs on the piano. Regan taught herself to play the piano, then studied under Dr. David Glenn Hatch in high school. Later on, Regan studied voice under Dean Kaelin. In 2015, Regan co-wrote and sang the song “Good To Be Alive” for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Mutual theme album, “Embark.” From 2013-2015, Regan was in the a cappella group “Frequency,” hosted by the Covey Center for the Performing Arts in, and then was in the a cappella group “Beyond Measure” at Brigham Young University in 2017.
Regan learns quickly, and has a great work ethic. Starting in 2017, Regan worked at doTerra International. She rose to the position of Content Creator on the US internal Knowledge Base team. During this time, she revolutionized the internal website, created a new way to format and share information on the website, then created a style guide for the company and subsequently held trainings for other teams to teach the new system.
Regan has been teaching piano lessons for 9 years and voice lessons for 5. Regan started out teaching with her own studio which usually had between 20 and 30 students at any given time. She currently works at Prattland Music Adventures teaching both piano and voice lessons.
When she isn’t working on her music, Regan enjoys working out with her husband, being outdoors, and watching true crime documentaries. Her creativity extends beyond music and takes shape in other areas of her life, including upgrading thrifted clothes, painting, embroidering, throwing parties, making DIY home decor, and finding unique presents for her loved ones. Regan also just adores with her husband, so anything she does is better when he’s around.
Regan was recently commissioned to write a song that song featured in the Khemia ensemble concert at UVU. The song is called “interlude.” Regan wrote, produced, and recently released her first single, “afraid of the dark” on all streaming platforms under the artist name hunny sugar.
Regan is currently working on a few new songs she plans to release in the coming months. She’s excited to continue her career as a composer and producer, writing music for video games and other media.
